Heat wave!

Well how do I start? I just want you let you all know before I start, that I normally would not write about this. I've been left no choice, it is somewhere around 5pm, and over ninety degrees, and no air conditioner in sight! Our house stays really cool though, we leave our windows open at night, turn on our attic fan in the evening before bed, and it sucks all of the warm air out of our house, so we have a very comfortable sleep. During the day, I keep the blinds closed, and the windows open very little and it stays pretty comfortable.

Anyway to begin my short story, I decided to fix a small dinner for the boys and I (shaun won't be home for dinner) . Something where I wouldn't have to use the oven to heat the house up. I did, salad and shredded pork sandwiches (yum!) We were all in the kitchen, when I felt this overwhelming amount of heat that built up in the house. I thought to myself, "wow, I guess I shouldn't have ran the microwave" still focusing on the boys and getting them to eat, I kept thinking, "seriously, this is almost equivelent to a sauna, maybe hotter" I started to sweat the boys left the dinning room without a word of complaint, but Seth started to scream. "the heat must be getting to him now" I thought. (now mind you, this is over a span of about 20 minutes) I noticed it became harder to breath, just this emense amount of heat all of a sudden. So I caved in and opened our back patio door...ahhhh...it felt like a refridgerator door had been opened, and what? it's like ninety degrees out and the air feels good compared to our house? "What in the world is going on?" I kept going on with my business cleaning up, thinking I can't take more days with this amount of heat in our house. I went to the trash can to throw somethings away, but I dropped them. I bent down to pick the stuff up, and OH MY GOODNESS! My beloved son turned our heat on! Not just on, but on HIGH! Your see, we have electric baseboard heat with thermostats in everyroom, so the heat just rolls out of these heaters. I thought I saw the Heat waving out of the heaters it was so hot! (okay, not really) I never thought I would say "thank you Father, for Ninety degree weather," but I did! Ninety degrees-for the first time in my life-felt really good.

Now, I have my suspisions about who the culpret was to this "heat thing" but since I didn't actually see anything with my very own eyes, I won't say who I think it was. But seriously you can narrow down to your own conclusions by these short facts: 1) Shaun is not at home right now

2) Seth is too short, and the thermostat is 5 ft. off the gound

3) There is bottled water stacked below it on the ground

4) Noah just doesn't think of these kind of things

Below is a picture of the scene, so you can draw your own conclusions...
okay sorry about the picture, but you'll understand!

God has some huge plans for this boy, Jessi! I'm confident that some day this gift of ingenuity will be used for God's glory...............somehow.

Funny!

so, did you actually give the boys a chance to 'fess up? it would be interesting to hear what they have to say....

i shouldn't tell on my youngest one, but i have a related story... todd told me on the phone the other day that he just bought a bag of mixed chocolates and all the "krackle" bars were gone. he asked all the kids who ate them. all denied doing so. i suggested he go into cami's room and check behind her bed. he found 60 or 70 wrappers there!!! some things never change...

I laughed out loud when I read your comment Dee! That is soooo funny...I would have loved to see Todd's reaction when he saw the wrappers, and then Cami's when she found out she'd been caught!

Jessi, before you even listed those clues I think we all knew who the culprit was!! I can't wait to see what stunts he pulls in jr. high and high school. :-) Aren't you glad you discovered the heat source after only 20 minutes????

(I just read, and loved, your last post, too!)
